  1. What is the big band theme song they used to play on Don’t Touch That Dial on KCSN in the 80’s? I can hum the song, but cannot locate the artist or title. Thank you for your help.

Hello, I have heard your show.

I have a question that I’ve been working on for approximately thirty years and I thought perhaps you could help me.

Back around 1977 or 78, I was listening to a vintage radio program. They were playing a suspense show, from many years before. It was truly excellent, one of the most spell binding things I have ever heard.

The problem was that I was driving to Palm Springs and the reception got worse and worse. Finally, I lost the signal.

Now, I’ve gone almost 30 years wondering HOW DID IT END?

If I’d realized how important it was, I would have turned my car around and driven back to where I could get the signal. But I didn’t think of that then.

So, I don’t know the name of the story, or even of the show.

All I know is that it was very suspenseful and it took place in a planetary observatory. In one scene, they went to visit a scientist who had seen something through the telescope and gone mad.

When they talked to him, he could only repeat a single word. That was all they had to go on to solve the mystery. (No, I don’t remember the word.)

It was the best radio drama I have ever heard.

So, I’m hoping that, somehow, over the years, you have heard the story, and can give me a lead.

Thank you in advance for any thoughts. .
